This is the messy church page of our church website.
Messy Church is an international movement started in an Anglican church near Portsmouth in 2004 and has grown across a wide range of denominations and traditions. Messy Church is a creative, fun and welcoming way of encountering Jesus for all ages. There are lots of fun things for parents and children to do together.
We started our Messy Church in 2015 as we wanted to offer an alternative to traditional church and to open the church building to more people. We have seen a large number of children come, grow up with us, move on and some even have stayed on to help out! We also have a lot of help both in the past and at present, from members of the church and wider community in supporting with the planning and running of the sessions. Everyone who helps has something to offer.
We are one of the only Churches in the district still running a monthly Messy Church, others will do them quarterly or on special occasions.
Our Messy Church is held on the second Saturday afternoon of every month (apart from July and August) from 4-5:30pm. We start with a game as all the families arrive. We then have a short talk, song and prayers either based on a biblical theme or event. There are then about 6 or 7 activities which can be creative, physical, or food related. The session ends with everyone eating a meal together. Anyone is welcome to come and join us, there is a donation pot for those who are able to contribute.
